1. How to connect to a PAX terminal using serial cable?

PAX Base would be required to connect Serial Communication

2. What is the default value of the connection timeout?

30 sec

3. What is the default value of the connection retries?

2 times

4. What is the default connectivity priority set?

priority 1 : TCP , priority 2 : COM/serial

5. Can I select and connect multiple TCP and COM devices in the available device list after the scan?

NO, only one TCP mode and one COM mode can be selected, and these can be two different devices or a single device with both modes

6. Is it mandatory to click on save settings after any configuration changes?

Yes. Clicking on save settings is mandatory

7. What happens if I do not select the connection fallback allowed option?

If the connection fallback allowed option is not selected, the PoS controller will communicate with the priority 1 connection mode and will not be fallback to the second priority

8. Does the scan device option list both com and TCP available devices?

Yes. The scan device option scans both com and TCP devices and lists all reachable devices

9. When I launch the app for the first time, are all the device details on the home screen empty?

Yes, for the first time, all device details are empty. The user must configure the device using the setting option

10. Do I need to configure device for every login and logout?

No. Configuration is a one-time activity. If users want to change the device and any other configuration, they only need to configure the device in the setting menu

11. If I restart the PC, do i need to re-configure the connection and device details?

No. After restarting, just launch the PoS tcontroller app, and all the previously saved configurations will be displayed on the home screen

12. What are the details received during scanning of the device connected over a serial cable(wired connectivity)?

For wired connectivity, below are the details received:

  1. Device ID
  2. Device serial number
  3. Device connected port
  4. Device connection mode (Com/TCP)

13. What are the details received during the scanning of the device connected over IP (Wi-Fi/Ethernet)?

For wifi connectivity, below are the details received:

  1. Device ID
  2. Device serial number
  3. Device TCP port
  4. Device TCP IP

14. What connectivity modes are supported by Windows?

Comm/serial and TCP-IP

15. What connectivity modes are supported by Linux?

Comm/serial and TCP-IP

16. What connectivity modes are supported by Android?

BT and TCP-IP

17. A Demo Application for Billing System Integration is available?

Yes. A demo application for billing system integration is available and is part of the SDK. Please refer to the SDK page for the respective platforms

18. What is PoS Controller Integration?

POS Controller is an application running on Windows or Linux systems which can be used to connect with the payment terminal to process the request received from billing application

19. Which Java version is supported for PoS Controller Integration?

Your PC should support the JDK 1.8 path set in Environment Variable & above for integration with the PAX Android device

20. What type of Platform is supported for Integration on Pine Lab Smart terminal?

Linux and Windows

21. What peripheral hardware is supported on the PAX Smart terminal?

Bluetooth printer and bar code scanner

22. How can I use the fallback connection on a PoS controller with a smart PoS application?

You can check the Allowed fallback Checkbox and select Priority 1 as TCP/IP or COM/Serial with the Smart PoS Controller and send payment transaction requests to the terminal

23. Can we connect more than one terminal at a time?

Yes, the PoS Controller Application will allow the connection of more than one PAX device with COM and TCP/IP

24. Which payment modes can I test on the test devices?

While you can pass any tender mode in the API request, you can test basic debit/credit card sale transactions on the test devices. Other payment modes can be turned based on the requirements

25. Will I be charged while testing the payment flow on the test device?

No, the device is strictly for testing. However, you can see the entire flow for the available payment modes

26. PoS Controller supports connection for devices other than Pine labs PAX Can we connect any other device other than the PAX Device on the POS Controller?

No. The PAX Device will provide the TID and Serial Number to the PoS Controller through the PoS Bridge App. The PoS Controller should display only PAX devices
